Theatre Hour – Saturdays, 12-1, and Sunday Brunch, 9.30am-12 noon.
I am giving theatre and the arts a strong platform on Vixen 101 with the new Theatre Hour. Every week, I take a look at the amateur and profession theatre worlds with interviews, previews, reviews and ticket competitions. There is plenty about in the East Riding, and I am often seen at the various theatre productions around, whether they are in the cities, towns or the villages. I do it because I believe theatre needs as much publicity as it can generate and there is some immense talent out there waiting to entertain us.
You will also find me out and about with a microphone and minidisk recorder covering some of the area’s news stories, which you will generally hear on Sunday Brunch, 9.30am-12 noon. I host this show in rotation with my colleagues Gary Newbould and Dennis Hartley, giving us all the occasional Sunday off!
I came to Vixen 101 to host this slot after doing something similar at a community radio station in Cheshire, when I worked over there. My day job is in public relations but I started my career as a journalist at BBC Radio Humberside, having come over to East Yorkshire from my native Southport, Lancashire, to university in Hull in 1986. I live in the Brough area where I launched a community newspaper in 1999 and edited it for eight years. Now my focus is on promoting the Vixen 101 brand and helping provide good news content for the station.
